Semi Mature Trees

I have a wide selection of many species of semi-Mature trees ( and some shrubs) from about 7 years old to 35 years old. Sizes range from about 4 metres high to 6 metres high. All have grown here their whole lives. They have all been regularly transplanted to produce a bushy root system which gives the trees the optimum chance of survival and rapid regrowth when you plant them in their final position. They are all growing in the ground and are dug by machine just before collection. The trees are dug with a very large lump of soil and roots and because of our cohesive soil this large lump helps stabalise the trees when replanted and also keeps the roots moist during movement and transplanting. These large specimens are much in demand for instant impact and screening.

Most of these larger specimens are deciduous although I do also offer some specimens of Holly and Portugal Laurel as well as a very few conifers.

The most popular species are Field Maple and Hornbeam. These are 2 species which transplant and grow away very quickly after transplanting. These 2 species are also excellent for screening purposes and can if required be pruned if they begin to outgrow the space available.

One of my favourites and specialities is Parrotia persica, Persian ironwood. This is often regarded as a shrub but I grow forms which are distinctly tree like, growing with a single stem up to 15metres high. This most wonderful tree is an easy transplanter, is drought resistant, will grow in almost any soil and has attractive leaves which turn orange and red, it also has small red flowers in spring. It is very prunable and can be grown or trained to almost any shape. I have several varieties some growing ultimately taller than others.

Most popular native specis are available as well as a fair number of rare and ornamental trees. I also have some very large 35 year old pollarded specimens of various Lime ( Tilia) species. These have trunks about 20-25 cm DIAMETER and developing spreading ctowns

Prices vary from £100 to £350, with a very few up to £500 plus VAT. The price reflects the size, age, rate of growth etc. Most of the specimens we sell are priced between £100 and £250.00

Please ask for my latest list to be sent by e mail. Please remember we do not deliver. Customers often employ Tree surgeons to transplant their trees. All the bigger trees from our range of Semi mature trees require lifting equipment as they weigh in the range 250-750kg. Some of the smaller specimens are just managable by hand, weighing up to about 100 Kg
